AS9100 Quality Management Systems ~ Requirements for Aviation, Space and Defense Organizations
SAE AS9100 is the quality system requirements for suppliers to the aerospace and defense industries. It was developed in the United States as AS 9000 in 1996, expanded to address international aerospace requirements and is now approved by aerospace companies in Asia and Europe as well.
The Standard has a number of additional requirements and amplifications of the ISO 9001 Standard.
This book or requirements was developed by the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG) and is technically equivalent to AECMA prEN 9100 for European aerospace suppliers.

Intent
The intent is to achieve significant improvements in quality and reductions in cost throughout the value stream or supply chain.
Applicability
The aerospace/defense customers are placing the requirement for conformance on their suppliers. It primarily pertains to part and/or process suppliers.
