ANSI/AIHA Z10 - American National Standard - Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems
The ANSI/AIHA Z10 standard is the American National Standard - Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Management Systems and is basically the American equivalent of OHSAS 18001.
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) along with the American Industrial Hygiene Association has developed and released Z10 a voluntary consensus standard for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.
The purpose is to provide an effective management tool for continual improvement of OH&S performance and applies the recognized quality concept of Plan-Do-Check-Act.
The Z10 is designed to be compatible with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and other management systems. OSHA through the Voluntary Protection Program and their participation on this document endorse the principles as an effective tool for improving health and safety performance in industry.
Note: The American Automotive Group AIAG has stated they would prefer a manufacturer to utilize the ANSI/AIHA Z10 Standard over the OHSAS 18001 Standard. Click here for the AIAG Communiqué
